Abstract: This paper centers on Masuo Kodani's early organizational role in the genetics project of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC). Specifically, it concentrates on his complex relations with members of the Japanese scientific community and with Japanese civilians, at the same time it explores his peculiar status as Japanese American. The extent to which his career reflected American-Japanese post-war relations is also examined in the context of cold war developments.
