The use of material objects in the teaching of biology has a long history with live organisms, specimens and models being used in the classroom. This presentation will examine how everyday objects have been used to generate interdisciplinary enquiry into concepts within the life sciences. The history and social science within which an object is/was produced and used will be linked to the associated biological science and technologies using principles of material culture research.
